Startup Alley: Etheia

Etheia

Elevator Pitch: Etheia helps family attorneys compel fair discovery, uncover hidden assets, and analyze spousal spending in high conflict divorces. Family attorneys use Etheia’s reports and analysis to increase settlement values, demonstrate coercive control, and effectively argue parenting, child support, and alimony terms.

What makes you unique or innovative? There’s lots of innovation in streamlining uncontested divorces, but there’s a billion-dollar market in high conflict and high net worth divorces that’s been forgotten. In these cases, both parties turn to he-said, she-said arguments. With a data-driven approach, family attorneys can separate fact from fiction and achieve the best outcomes for their clients.

What problem do you solve? Family lawyers are repeatedly faced with discovery dumps, missing information in financial disclosures, and buried lifestyle evidence in contentious divorces. This messy process leads to incomplete discovery, lower settlement values, and high spend on low-value work (like typing PDF statements into Excel). Etheia helps family attorneys get to the truth so they can focus on achieving the best outcomes for their clients.

Traction to date. We recently started working on our first case with a forensic accountant (~$500 in revenue delivered thus far). We have two major deals that are close to closing, in addition to a handful of early-stage sales conversations. One is with an AmLaw firm where we have approval to use Etheia from the private clients chair, litigation co-chair, and Chief Information Officer. The other is with a mid-size firm that focuses on high net worth and high conflict cases. For both deals, we’re waiting on a case that makes sense to pilot on.

Plan for growth over next five years. We’re planning to bootstrap our first ten customers over the next year and a half. At that point, we’ll have enough revenue to build a SaaS offering without having to raise capital from outside investors. Over the next five years, our SaaS offering will allow us to operate in the wider family law market, including with small and solo practices.
