As it continues its “Road to ILTACON” series of product announcements leading up to ILTACON starting later this week, legal technology company Litera has announced updates to its Foundation Platform firm intelligence suite, including adding Microsoft Outlook integration and expanded AI capabilities through its Lito assistant.
The Chicago-based company’s Foundation Platform combines client relationship management (CRM) data with matter insights from its experience management system.

The new Outlook interface provides easier access to Foundation data for a firm’s lawyers, allowing them to access consolidated client, matter, contact and relationship data directly within their email workflow.
Features available through the Foundation Platform include experience management, deal and case insights, customer relationship management, enterprise relationship management, e-marketing, matter scoping and pricing, and financial analytics capabilities.
Recent updates integrate the platform with Litera One, the company’s unified interface that works within Microsoft 365. This integration allows firms to search their experience data using natural language queries through the Lito AI assistant, which was launched last week.
Lito can now proactively respond to experience-related inquiries within Outlook, Litera said. For example, if a client emails requesting information about a firm’s mergers and acquisitions experience in gaming assets, Lito can identify the context and provide relevant matter and personnel information directly in the email interface.
“With the latest wave of innovations across our Foundation Platform and the introduction of Lito, Litera is once again redefining what’s possible for legal technology,” said Litera CEO Avaneesh Marwaha. “By empowering legal professionals with unified, AI-driven tools seamlessly embedded in their daily workflows, we’re not only accelerating productivity but also setting a new standard for firm intelligence.”

Among the other enhancements to Foundation:
- Data synchronization between Foundation and Foundation 365 (formerly Foundation Peppermint) for unified client and matter records (coming in the fourth quarter of this year).
- AI-powered “what’s market” insights integrated into Litera One for Word through Litera Draft updates.
