The Asia-Pacific Legal Innovation and Technology Association (ALITA) and legal tech startup Theorem LTS have partnered to develop and launch ALITA’s new online membership portal.

Theorem’s platform will provide ALITA members with access to a legal tech marketplace with a suite of ready-to-use legal technology tools, shared vendor intelligence, and click-to-launch technology test drives.

ALITA’s member portal, using the Theorem platform, will launch later this year.

ALITA, based in Singapore, is the regional legal technology association for Asia-Pacific, with a mission to drive collaboration in legal innovation and technology in the region.

Its membership includes some 200 organizations, including global law firms, legal technology companies, inhouse departments of leading companies, research institutions, public institutions and civic society groups.

ALITA plans to use the portal as a one-stop platform for members to discover and experiment with new legal tech tools, and to gain access to these tools at exclusive rates.

Theorem’s legal tech platform is designed to facilitate the adoption and integration of digital solutions for the legal industry. The platform combines an integrated marketplace for legal technology with a workflow engine that serves up firm technology needs at the point of need, within the firm’s workflow.

Its purpose is to help law firms and legal departments discover, assess, adopt, track, connect and automate their legal technology stack.

“Enabling greater collaboration among legal industry stakeholders across the globe is one of Theorem’s top priorities — an essential piece in a more connected global legal technology offering,” said Theorem cofounder Joshua Maley. “We couldn’t be more pleased that ALITA will partner with us to drive its new membership portal.”

The portal will provide ALITA members with access to a legal tech marketplace.

The new ALITA portal, which will be available to its members on an exclusive and voluntary basis, is slated to be rolled out sometime later this year.

ALITA and Theorem say the portal will complement other initiatives ALITA has launched to provide the APAC legal industry with access to legal technology data and guidance. These include:

  • The Legal Tech Observatory, which aims to be the world’s first real-time database of legal tech players and initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region. ALITA receives input from a broad spectrum of legal tech actors in the region, including several global law firms, legal departments, vendors, service providers and academic institutions.
  • The “State of Legal Innovation in the Asia-Pacific” report, an annual report, now in its third edition, on the state of development of legal technology in more than 10 APAC jurisdictions.
  • The ALITA-sponsored Legal Innovation Strategy Toolkit, which provides guidance to legal innovation leaders on how to develop and plan their jurisdiction’s legal innovation strategy.

In a joint statement announcing the portal, Josh Lee Kok Thong and Lee Ji En, ALITA’s chairperson and deputy chairperson, said the portal is consistent with the organization’s mission “to connect, empower and enable the Asia-Pacific legal innovation and technology industry.”

“We are pleased that Theorem shares ALITA’s aspirations — and are excited to see the unlimited possibilities our members can derive from our new membership portal to drive legal transformation, deliver quality services, and deepen access to justice for the region,” they said.
