In my post last week on the 20 legal tech trends that defined 2020, one I included involved the launch last year of three new services for legal news, two of which combined traditional journalism with data and analytics, and a third, from Thomson Reuters, that seemed to directly target the Law360 news service from its competitor LexisNexis.

Now, 2021 is kicking off with the launch of another news service, this one also from LexisNexis and also uniquely combining traditional journalism with data and analytics, with a focus on covering the business of law and the legal industry in general.

Called Law360 Pulse, the service will cover industry issues and trends, such as leadership and lateral moves, finances, compensation, technology, government policy, regulations, ethics and more, with a focus on large and mid-market firms, in-house counsel, courts and litigation, and local coverage in nine states, LexisNexis says.

I have not yet seen the new service, but I am scheduled for a demonstration later today. LexisNexis says that readers will be able to customize their Law360 Pulse news feeds by selecting the content that interests them, signing up for daily newsletters and setting alerts to stay informed of developments.

News Plus More

LexisNexis says that, in addition to breaking news and features, Law360 Pulse will release a series of surveys, rankings and reports on law firm practices and industry trends. The first report, “Physical Space in a Pandemic: How Law Firms are Adapting,” is being issued today together with a broader series on how COVID-19 has impacted the business of law.

Future content will include compensation data, attorney satisfaction, and surveys on managing partners and summer associates, LexisNexis says.

Law360 Pulse launches today with coverage of 14 topics and geographic regions, including:

  • Modern Lawyer: Covering large law firm finances, leadership and lateral moves, compensation, government regulation, legal tech, legal ethics and disruption in the market.
  • Mid-Law: Covering similar business of law topics from the perspective of regional and midmarket firms.
  • In-House: Covering executive moves, legal ops, technology, government policy, court developments and other issues relating to in-house lawyers.
  • Courts: Covering the biggest news out of the courts, including major lawsuits and decisions, Supreme Court and other judiciary news, and policy changes that impact litigators.
  • Daily litigation: A sampling of federal and state litigation news from across the country, including complaints and decisions in notable cases such as class actions and MDL bellwethers.
  • State-specific coverage: Focused business of law news from nine states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas. Additional state coverage will be added in the future, LexisNexis says.

For a limited time, LexisNexis is offering free access to the new service. You can read more and start a free trial at www.law360.com/pulse.
