Startup Alley: CaseYak

CaseYak

Elevator Pitch: CaseYak uses AI to generate motor vehicle accident claim value predictions. We currently use this to offer lead generation services to law firms, but we love the potential for other use cases.

What makes you unique or innovative?

We answer the question found on so many attorney billboards: “What’s your case worth?”

What problem do you solve? We offer injured victims a data-backed case value estimate, help generate more business for personal injury attorneys, and help those attorneys better screen their leads with the advantage of those case value estimates.

Your competitors? More “traditional” lead aggregators such as Nolo, Martindale, Avvo etc.

Target customer. Mid to large law firms, with some growth-minded small law firms also having interest.

Price.  $499 per month per “slot” in our lead generation queue in Colorado, As we expand into other states, prices will vary depending on market size and geography.

Expected 2022/2023 gross revenue? Less than $1M/Less than $1M

Number of users/paying customers? < 100/< 20

Traction to date. We launched our lead generation service in September 2022 (pivot from earlier product direction). We currently have three paying customers generating $1400 MRR. We also have three more customers on free trials and hope to convert those to paying customers soon!

Plan for growth over next five years. 1. Continue growing our motor vehicle accident lead generation service by expanding into new states, which means gathering new data, training the AI model, and building out our attorney network. 2. With access to larger network, seek to leverage data which is not publicly available (i.e., settlement data) to further train the model with the goal of becoming a gold-standard prediction model for MVA claims. 3. Expand into other legal verticals lending themselves to prediction, such as workers’ compensation and plaintiffs’ side employment.

Outside funding. Less than $1M in outside funding
