The legal AI company Harvey and the court data company PacerPro have announced an integration partnership that gives litigation teams working in Harvey access to their firm’s complete litigation record, including the filings and case context from matters the firm has previously handled and those currently on the docket.

PacerPro captures state and federal court filings and their underlying documents as they post, connecting each filing to its case and docket history, and organizing that activity into a continuously updated record of the firm’s litigation, matter by matter.

Even though this is the information that drives the work of litigation teams , it often lives outside the tools lawyers use to research, draft, and analyze.

Until now, the companies say, connecting those things has often required lawyers to retrieve a new filing, reconstruct the relevant case history, search the firm’s document management system for prior work, and assemble the context before substantive work can begin.

With PacerPro and Harvey, the filing becomes the starting point: the court event triggers the work, the matter record supplies the context, and the firm’s litigation history supplies the experience.

The companies say that their partnership is designed to support the ways litigation teams already use docket data on a daily basis, including state and federal docket monitoring, litigation workflow automation, and real-time filing alerts, with PacerPro serving as the court data and workflow infrastructure enabling the integration.

“We started PacerPro because the real value of the court record isn’t a docket entry telling you that something happened,” said Gavin McGrane, CIO and cofounder at PacerPro. “It’s what was filed. That’s where law meets fact — where lawyers make arguments and courts decide them. … With Harvey, a filing that arrives today can be understood in the context of the case behind it and the firm’s experience before it.”

How does this work? The companies gave these examples:

  • A dispositive motion arrives. PacerPro provides the motion together with the matter context behind it — the operative pleadings, earlier briefing, prior rulings and procedural history. Harvey can help the lawyer understand the argument, identify what matters in the record, and draw on relevant work the firm has done before.
  • An order issues. The team can understand the ruling in the context of the arguments that preceded it and determine what comes next. When a new legal question arises, the firm’s prior matters provide a record of how its lawyers have applied law to fact before: the arguments they made, the authorities they relied on, how opponents responded and what courts ultimately did.

“When we looked at how to bring court data into Harvey, PacerPro’s track record with litigation teams made it a straightforward choice,” said Megan McMillin, legal innovation partner at Harvey. “The filings themselves, the context around them, and the connection to the firm’s own matters give Harvey a powerful foundation for litigation work. Lawyers can work from what is happening in the case now while putting their firm’s prior experience to use.”

If you are at ILTACON this week, Harvey and PacerPro will demonstrate the integration live tomorrow, Aug. 25, at the Harvey booth. A joint webinar will follow the conference; registration details will be available at pacerpro.com.
