EvenUp today introduced its new Medical Management product designed to help personal injury law firms track their clients’ medical care in real time and prevent treatment interruptions that can undermine case value.

The San Francisco-based company, which specializes in AI tools for personal injury practices, said the product addresses a widespread problem. According to EvenUp’s data analysis, nearly one-third of personal injury cases experience significant treatment gaps that can weaken claims.

EvenUp’s analysis of cases on its platform found that 16.8% of plaintiffs develop a 30-day gap in treatment within the first three months of their case. That figure rises to 32.4% after six months, with 43% of cases eventually experiencing gaps longer than 30 days.

These interruptions matter because consistent medical treatment is a key driver of case value in personal injury litigation, EvenUp says. Gaps can raise questions about the severity of injuries or the plaintiff’s credibility, potentially reducing settlement amounts or jury awards.

The challenge for law firms has been visibility. With large caseloads and limited staff, attorneys often lack real-time information about whether clients are attending appointments, receiving recommended care or encountering obstacles in their treatment.

Real-Time Medical Tracking

EvenUp says its new Medical Management product addresses this challenge by providing firms with an interactive timeline showing each client’s treatment history, upcoming appointments, medical expenses and communications, all available within an hour of uploading case files.

The system flags treatment gaps, missed appointments and missing medical bills or records before they impact case value. It also identifies recommended care and critical procedures like MRIs, injections or surgeries, giving case managers immediate visibility into high-value treatments that have been completed or are planned.

In a testimonial published on EvenUp’s website, Clark Fielding, founding principal at Fielding Law in Irvine, Calif., said the technology helps his firm be better advocates. “We can pull up information in real time during depositions and get the ammunition we need to be the best advocates possible.”

AI Communication Agents

A key feature of the new product is what EvenUp calls Treatment Check-In Agents — AI-powered tools that conduct routine client check-ins via SMS or voice calls in English and Spanish. The agents handle basic status confirmations automatically, then flag cases requiring personal attorney attention.

These Treatment Check-In Agents are the first in a planned broader suite of communication agents that will extend across the entire case lifecycle, EvenUp says.

Another EvenUp customer, John K. Zaid, managing partner at John K. Zaid & Associates in Houston, Tex., said the automated communication helps his firm stay connected with clients across large caseloads.

“When you’re managing hundreds of cases, it’s impossible to speak with every client regularly,” he said. “EvenUp’s communication agent keeps those conversations going while my team focuses on the critical work of medical management and maximizing client recovery.”

EvenUp plans to expand its these communication agent capabilities to handle other time-consuming tasks, including record retrieval follow-up, balance verification and liability and coverage verification.

Insights from AI Usage Data

The Medical Management launch builds on EvenUp’s analysis of how PI attorneys are using AI tools. In July 2025, the company analyzed thousands of AI interactions across more than 200 firms and found:

  • 69% of prompts focused on medical treatment analysis and injury assessment.
  • 75% of drafting prompts centered on litigation documents, particularly interrogatories and complaints.
  • 30% of firms used AI interactively, engaging in follow-up prompts to refine results.
  • 27% of AI drafts transformed unstructured inputs into court-ready documents.

These usage patterns informed the development of the Medical Management product, the company says.

Part of Broader Platform Evolution

The new product represents EvenUp’s expansion beyond its original document generation capabilities. Earlier this year, the company introduced Mirror Mode, which allows firms to create AI drafts that replicate their existing work style across different document types.

Cofounder and CEO Rami Karabibar framed the Medical Management launch as part of a shift in legal AI from reactive to proactive tools. “By bringing real-time visibility to client care, we’re helping firms see what’s next, not just what’s happened.”

The announcement follows EvenUp’s $150 million Series E funding round announced in October, led by Bessemer Venture Partners with participation from REV (the venture arm of RELX, owner of LexisNexis), B Capital, Bain Capital, and others. That round valued the company above $2 billion.
