PandaDoc, a San Francisco company whose platform automates document creation and workflows, said today that it has acquired the e-notary platform LiveNotary and and leveraged its technology to launch PandaDoc Notary, its own platform enabling customers to legally sign and notarize documents online.

PandaDoc Notary’s Remote Online Notarization (RON) is an all-in-one product that enables users to legally sign, collect and manage electronically signed and notarized documents within minutes, the company said.

Because it is part of the PandaDoc platform, PandaDoc Notary integrates with many other tools, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Google Docs, Zapier and Zoho.

For law firms, the product can be used to notarize documents for clients, and can be of particular use when notarization is needed for a client who is unable to come into the firm, whether because of travel or other reasons.

To ensure document security, PandaDoc Notary uses two-point identification that incorporates knowledge-based identification (KBA) with live credential evaluation, the company said. KBA uses specific questions to verify the signer’s identity, and credential verification uses visual and electronic analysis of the signer’s ID to confirm their identity.

All of the audiovisual recordings, electronic journals and notarized documents are securely stored in the cloud, where they are available for customers to view and download at their convenience.

LiveNotary will no longer provide technical updates to its product, according to a notice on its site. It encouraged customers to transition to PandaDoc Notary.

“The LiveNotary acquisition builds on our mission to create a seamless, world-class digital document experience for small and medium businesses,” said Mikita Mikado, PandaDoc’s chief executive officer.

“As businesses continue to digitally transform, SMBs require that the way documents are created, sent, signed and notarized becomes much more simple, efficient and cost-effective. With the e-notary capability now integrated into our platform, customers can not only create business documents but also conveniently, securely and efficiently notarize them online as part of the PandaDoc solution.”

A PandaDoc Notary subscription is $59 a month per user, when billed annual, or $74 when billed monthly.
